Money and tipping

The currency is the euro. Cards are widely accepted, but keep some cash for small tavernas and islands. Tipping 5–10% is appreciated.

Getting around

Combine domestic flights, ferries and pre-booked transfers. Book transfers in advance for arrival days, especially on islands.

When to go

May–June and September–October offer warm seas and fewer crowds. July and August are the hottest and busiest months.

Etiquette

Cover shoulders and knees in monasteries. Greeks eat late — dinner at 9pm is normal.
